Industry Expert : Ian Campbell
Ian has extensive Energy & Utilities experience with a particular focus on IT. He spent the first 15 years in management within the sector, and the last 13 years as an industry consultant involved in business development and service delivery to the sector within major IT services players. 
During his management career in the industry, Ian held senior IT positions within Centrica/British Gas during privatisation and market liberalisation. As IT Strategy Implementation Manager for British Gas, Ian was responsible for co-ordinating the implementation of their IT Strategy for De-Regulation and Competition.
When he moved to being a consultant to the sector; Ian sold and successfully managed a Programme which converted Centrica’s 18M customer database supporting their National Billing System from a “premise” to a “customer” based paradigm.
Ian’s consulting specialisms span Business Development, IT strategy, and Programme Management all founded on a deep understanding of utility processes and systems requirements.
Over the last few years Ian has lead the development of a Group wide Smart Metering offering and Go To Market Plan for a tier 1 IT Services Company.
Ian is a co-author of “The Relationship-Based Enterprise” which provides a business perspective on Customer Relationship Management and the author of numerous articles on Utilities Business Issues.
