Industry Expert : Ross Catley

Ross has over 15 years experience in the utility and telecommunications industries, and over the last three years has specialised in project delivery and communications for Smart Metering.Ross Catley

After a period with Thames Water, Siemens Nixdorf and Cable and Wireless, Ross joined Vodafone for seven years as Network and Communication Manager where he was responsible for strategic direction, design and delivery of a number of key IT projects, which included design of new virtual networks, and new technologies into the network such as GPRS, 3G and HSDPA.

The last five years have been spent as a consultant focussed on helping Utilities or providers of products and services to Utilities design their communication architectures. Clients have included National Grid where Ross was involved in a number of mobility projects including a pan UK/US front office project, and Fujitsu where Ross designed the communications elements of Fujitsu’s Smart Metering proposition.

More recently Ross has been working with Eircom and their mobile telecommunications subsidiary, Meteor, on a number of projects including support for the extensive Smart Metering roll-out in Ireland.
