Industry Expert : James Nixon

A highly experienced consultant, James has acquired extensive domain knowledge and a track record for delivery during almost 30 years in the energy industry. Although now focusing principally on market governance and regulation, his knowledge and expertise is drawn from across the industry verticals, allowing him to bring a rounded insight to assignments.

Formerly an elected member of the industry’s Balancing & Settlement Code Panel, he also sponsored its Performance Assurance Board and was a member of the Credit Committee that set the Credit Assessment Price - a notional value used in determining trading participants’ credit cover requirements.

Other career highlights to date have included an assignment that led a client to receive a prestigious award for outstanding benefits realisation and an assignment to bring the first of the UK’s Independent Distribution Network Operators to the market.

Although he maintains links with and continues to perform assignments for other clients, James is currently most visibly engaged by Scottish Power, advising the Iberdrola subsidiary on its strategic response to the British Government’s high profile Smart Meters Programme. In this capacity he directly represents Scottish Power’s interests as he engages directly with Government and other stakeholders in working to develop the legal & commercial frameworks of the technology’s rollout.

A graduate of the University of Lincoln, James holds both IT and Management qualifications and is a British Computer Society Certified IS Consultant.
